THE STORY OF FALY BASSE
Founder & Director
Faly Basse is a former professional soccer player from France, an experienced coach, technical leader, and passionate player-development specialist.
Before dedicating himself to coaching and youth development, Faly played professional soccer across France, Switzerland, Germany, and England, gaining valuable experience in different football environments and cultures.
His experience as a professional player continues to shape his coaching philosophy. Having experienced the demands of high-level football firsthand, Faly understands the importance of discipline, technical quality, tactical intelligence, mentality, and hard work in a player's journey.
Today, through FC FALY, he brings his international playing experience together with his coaching education to create an environment where young players can develop both on and off the field.
The foundation of FC FALY traces back to France, where a group of childhood friends were brought together by their shared passion for soccer. Growing up side by side, they played, trained, competed, and supported one another like brothers.
Among them, one player stood out, Faly Basse.
From those early days, soccer became more than a game for Faly. It became a passion, a way of life, and ultimately a journey that would take him across France, Switzerland, Germany, and England as a professional player.
Those experiences helped shape the person and coach he would become. The values learned as a young player, friendship, teamwork, discipline, commitment, perseverance, and a love for the game — remain at the heart of FC FALY today.
Faly’s journey began at a young age. At just 13 years old, he was scouted and selected to play at the highest level of youth soccer in France, marking the beginning of an extraordinary football journey.
His talent, dedication, and work ethic quickly set him apart. By the age of 15, Faly had reached the semi-professional level, competing against some of the most talented young players in France and earning recognition for his potential.
At 17, he reached another major milestone when he was invited to the pre-selection process for the French Youth National Team at the prestigious Clairefontaine National Football Centre, the home of French football development.
These experiences gave Faly an early understanding of what it takes to compete at the highest level — commitment, discipline, resilience, sacrifice, and a relentless desire to improve. Those same values continue to shape his approach to coaching and player development today.
At 21, Faly’s promising playing career took an unexpected turn when a significant injury sidelined him for eight months. What initially felt like a major setback became an important moment of reflection.
During his recovery, Faly began to look beyond his own playing career and think about how he could continue contributing to the game he loved. His passion for soccer remained stronger than ever, but his vision began to evolve.
He realized that his experience, knowledge, and passion could be used to guide, mentor, and develop the next generation of players.
What began as a difficult chapter ultimately became the beginning of a new purpose, moving from developing himself as a player to developing others through the game.
Determined to continue his journey in soccer, Faly returned to the professional game, playing in Germany and England. These experiences exposed him to different football cultures, coaching philosophies, and competitive environments, further shaping his understanding of the game.
It was during his time in England that Faly reunited with some of his childhood friends from France. The friendships that had started on the soccer fields of their youth were still strong, and together they began imagining something bigger, an academy built on their lifelong love for the game and a desire to give the next generation opportunities they had experienced themselves.
That vision eventually became FC FALY.
Today, the academy represents the continuation of that journey, creating an environment where young players can develop their skills, discipline, confidence, character, and love for soccer.
From a young player in France, to a professional player across Europe, to a coach and mentor developing the next generation, Faly’s journey reflects the values at the heart of FC FALY.
Faly believes that developing a player goes far beyond what happens on the soccer field. His approach combines excellence in coaching, education, mentorship, leadership, community, and a genuine commitment to player development.
Players are challenged to reach their potential while being supported as individuals. The focus is not only on technical and tactical abilities, but also on confidence, character, discipline, leadership, and a strong understanding of the game.
The goal is to help players believe in themselves, recognize their potential, and take ownership of their development, whether they aspire to compete at the highest level or simply want to become the best version of themselves.
Develop the player. Educate the person. Inspire the leader.
Faly's professional playing journey took him across four football countries: France, Switzerland, Germany, and England.
These international experiences gave Faly first-hand exposure to different football cultures, playing environments, and approaches to the game. He now brings that perspective into his work with young players at FC FALY.
Faly brings his professional playing experience together with advanced coaching education, including the Canada Soccer A Licence, Canada Soccer B National Licence, Canada Soccer Children's Licence, and grassroots coaching education.
His coaching philosophy is built around technical excellence, tactical understanding, creativity, decision-making, mentality, and long-term player development.
